1. Introduction
Welcome to Pineway ("we," "our," or "us"). We provide a marketplace platform that allows Coaches ("Sellers") to sell digital products, services, or memberships to Customers ("Buyers").
We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.
2. Definitions
- Coaches: Users who register to sell products, services, or content on the platform.
- Customers: Users who purchase products, services, or content from Coaches.
- Users: Refers collectively to both Coaches and Customers.
3. Information We Collect
We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the specific website or apps.
A. Personal Information
- Account Registration: When you sign up (as a Coach or Customer), we collect identifiers such as your name, email address, and username.
- Coach Business Info: Coaches may provide additional information required for payouts and tax compliance (business name, address), which is handled securely by our payment partners.
B. Payment Information
We do not store or collect your payment card details.
All payments are processed by third-party payment processors (such as Stripe). That information is provided directly to our third-party payment processors whose use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy.
C. Usage Data (Analytics)
We use a self-hosted instance of Plausible Analytics to understand website traffic. Plausible is a privacy-first analytics tool.
- It does not use cookies.
- It does not generate any persistent identifiers.
- It does not collect or store any personally identifiable information (PII).
- All data is aggregated and processed on our own servers; it is not shared with ad-tech companies.
4. Third-Party Services & Technology
To provide our service, we use specific third-party tools. We have configured these tools to prioritize your privacy.
A. Error Monitoring (Sentry)
We use Sentry to track errors and crashes to improve platform stability.
- We utilize Sentry's maximum privacy settings.
- We explicitly scrub and do not send any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as names, emails, or IP addresses to Sentry.
- For more information, please visit Sentry's Data Processing Agreement.
B. Feature Flagging (Reflag)
We use Reflag to manage feature releases and conduct functionality testing.
- Reflag helps us toggle features on or off without deploying new code.
- We send anonymized user identifiers and feature configuration data to Reflag. No personally identifiable information (names, emails, IP addresses) is shared.
- Data sent to Reflag is limited to technical identifiers required for feature segmentation.
- For more information, please visit Reflag's Privacy Policy.
C. Payment Processors
We work with Stripe to process payments and payouts. Their privacy policy governs the handling of your financial data.
5. International Data Transfers
Pineway operates globally with team members and users across multiple countries. We store data on servers located in Zurich (eu-central).
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or other regions with data protection laws, your personal information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your region. We ensure adequate protection through Standard Contractual Clauses and other legally approved mechanisms to safeguard your data during international transfers.
6. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Facilitate the Marketplace: Allowing Customers to buy and Coaches to sell.
- Account Management: Managing your registration, login, and account preferences.
- Communication: Sending you transaction receipts, payout notifications, and critical service updates.
- Platform Improvement: Analyzing aggregated (non-personal) usage data to fix bugs and improve user experience.
- Marketing & Product Updates: We may send you occasional emails about new Pineway features, tips, or creator success stories. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in any message. Transactional emails (receipts, payout notifications, security alerts) cannot be disabled as they are essential to operating your account.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following circumstances:
- Between Coaches and Customers: When a Customer purchases from a Coach, the Coach receives the Customer's name and email address to fulfill the order and provide support. Coaches are responsible for their own legal compliance regarding the data they receive.
- Service Providers: With vendors (listed in Section 4) who help us operate the platform.
- Legal Obligations: If required by law (e.g., to comply with a subpoena or legal process).
Important Note for Customers:
When you purchase from a Coach on Pineway, that Coach becomes an independent data controller for your information (name, email, and any details you provide during checkout). The Coach is responsible for how they use, store, and protect your data in compliance with applicable privacy laws. Pineway acts as a data processor to facilitate the transaction, but is not responsible for how Coaches handle customer data after the sale.
8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use only essential cookies necessary for the platform to function:
- Authentication cookies: To keep you logged in securely.
- Session cookies: To remember your preferences during a single visit.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. As noted in Section 3C, our analytics tool (Plausible) does not use cookies or collect personally identifiable information.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings, but disabling essential cookies may prevent you from using certain features of Pineway.
9. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.
In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities within 72 hours or as required by applicable law.
10. Business Transfers
If Pineway is involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or other business transaction, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on our website before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy. You will have the opportunity to delete your account before the transfer if you do not wish your data to be included.
11. Data Security
We care about the security of your data. We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
